Penang Butterfly Park, Entopia:

If you haven't had the chance to connect with the charm of nature in a long time, then Entopia Penang Butterfly Park should be on your list of places to visit in Penang. This farm houses over 4,000 butterflies of about 150 species, each more ecstatic than the other drifting one into a fairytale land.

You can watch plenty of butterflies flutter around in freedom at the Natureland, or visit the cocoon, the abode for their little ones breathe into life.

Penang State Museum and Art Gallery:

This 1821 colonial building is like entering into the doors of the ancient times because every corner right from the gate onwards narrates the history of Penang. Holding a significant place in the Penang tourist places, this museum is a treasure of galleries, artefacts, creativity, and costumes which express the events from the past in a manner that one can easily relate to.

The addition of structures inside that display the traditional houses and marriage centres in those times is a wonderful piece of art to adore.

Penang Hill Train

The Penang Hill Train or Penang Hill Funicular Railway is a rail service that helps people travel to the top of the Penang Hill that holds a marvelous scenic beauty. The Funicular Railway was remodeled and re-opened in 2011.

Highlights: Rapid Penang bus 204 is the only bus service that takes people to the Penang Railway Station. This bus service starts from Penang Jetty and crosses Esplanade to reach KOMTAR bus station and at last Penang Hill. During this route the tourists can also view the big temple at Kek Lok Si.

Location: Penang Hill Train is situated in Air Itam, Penang Island. There is a walking route of 5 Km which starts from Botanical Gardens and reaches the top of the Penang Hill.

Best Time: First train at 6:30am, while the last train at 11:00 pm on all days.

Price: Adult- 3RM, Children- 3RM and different prices for students and senior citizens.

Penang Bird Park:

Penang Bird Park is dedicated to preserving over 300 species of birds in as natural a habitat as possible with the environment of a pond, waterfalls, bamboo plants, and geodesic-domed houses where they can flutter with their free will.
You can spot birds like Swans, Flamingos, Ducks, and Pelicans, to name a few. Besides birds, the park also is home to crocodiles, turtles, monkeys, and pythons. They have also caged over 3000 birds to allow them to heal from diseases and breed in privacy.

Penang National Park Hike:

Need to explore the nature in its pristine form? One surely has to visit Penang National Park which is spread across 2,563 hectares. This national park was officialised in April 2003 and consists of lowland forests, sandy beach habitats and some open coastal seas. The hike trail in this area is counted as the best activity. It mostly starts from Teluk Bahang and covers the hilly terrain that can reach up to a height of 75 metres.

Highlights: During the hiking session one can visit the fishing village, Pantai Kerachut and even Muka Head which are the prime locations that possess natural marvels.

Location: This National Park is situated near North-western Penang Island. The park entrance is located at Teluk Bahang which is approx. 30 minutes from Georgetown.

Best Time: 7:30 am- 6:00 pm on all days.

Price: One needs to register at the park office where they can access various services like camping, bird watching etc at different prices.

Straits Quay:

Straits Quay is one of the latest additions to the shopping scenario in Penang; in fact, it is the only one that faces the sea, which makes for an amazing view while shopping. You will find an array of retail shops selling away to their hearts glory, soaking in all the energy from the winds from the shore.

This shopping arena is mostly dominated by nail spas, hair spas, and boutiques, which makes it one of the 'must visit' Penang tourist places for the women. You can also dine with wine when here!

Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi:

If you haven't been to this most copacetic architecture building before called Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi, then you haven't been to Penang at all. Considered amongst the signature places to visit in Penang, this Chinese clanhouse is an anchorage for craft and architecture with stone carvings, sculptures, and lamps that adds the twinkle on this ornamented structure.

It was the place of worship and meeting of those Chinese people who had the same surname and belief so that they could take their faith forward in harmony and unity. The whole idea was to emphasise the need to be there for the people of our community.
