This study examined how social-cognitive traits predict adolescent volunteer motivation in Anhui Province, China. Guided by two research objectives, this study examined how empathic concern, perspective- taking, fantasy, and personal distress influence volunteer motivation and prosocial and community participation tendencies. Data were collected from 162 adolescents aged 12–18 via an online questionnaire. Motivation frequency and binary logistic regression were conducted using SPSS 26.0. Findings showed that empathy and perspective taking were the most consistent predictors, whereas fantasy and personal distress had weaker or mixed effects. Thus, instilling personal and social responsibilities among adolescents is crucial for sustainable urban development.
