ABSTRACT

The significant role of entrepreneurship and new business creation in emerging economies is well-studied and documented (Bruton et al., 2008; Hamdan et al., 2022; Kantis et al., 2011; Lim et al., 2016). One of the lenses highlighted in particular is termed "micro foundations", which refers to entrepreneurs' cognitive and their knowledge built-up (Bruton et al., 2013). In this context, universities are regarded as strategic environments for instilling entrepreneurial values, attitudes, and orientations that encourage students to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career option. Using Indonesia as a case in point, several initiatives have been policed by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to nurture entrepreneurial mindset and intention amongst university students. These initiatives include the nationwide Independent Entrepreneurship Program (Wirausaha Merdeka), the inclusion of entrepreneurship units in the curriculum, grant provisions and a credit earning system for students' participation on national entrepreneurship competition. However, studies on Indonesian higher-degree students provided inconclusive result (Listyaningsih et al., 2024; Satriadi, 2022), which prompted the need for more studies on the role of entrepreneurial education as a catalyst and a stimulant for entrepreneurial activities. Moreover, previous studies have not included entrepreneurial culture as an antecedent for entrepreneurial intention.
