This study seeks to provide a bibliometric analysis of research development concerning ulama and the transmission of Islamic knowledge in the Nusantara. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database using a systematic search strategy involving keywords related to ulama, manuscripts, Islamic intellectual tradition, and the Malay world. A total of 32 documents published between 2004 and 2025 were identified and analysed using Microsoft Excel to examine publication trends, citation patterns, source titles, author productivity, and major research themes. Findings indicated that research on ulama and the transmission of Islamic knowledge in the Nusantara has gradually developed over the past two decades and remains relevant in contemporary scholarship. Keyword analysis revealed the focus of primary research themes on the role of ulama as transmitters of Islamic knowledge, manuscript production, and the formation of Islamic intellectual networks. Furthermore, citation analysis highlighted the presence of influential works serving as key references in the field of Islamic intellectual history in the Nusantara. This study also found that regional journals play a significant role in disseminating research related to ulama and Islamic scholarly traditions. Overall, this study contributes to a more systematic understanding of the role of ulama in the transmission of Islamic knowledge and the development of Islamic intellectual traditions in the Nusantara. It also provides directions for future research, particularly in the areas of ulama networks, Islamic manuscripts, and Islamic intellectual history in the region.
