ABSTRACT

Household economic welfare is a topic that attracts attention among academics from various multidisciplines. As the smallest unit in the economy, households have an important role in economic activities, so their welfare affects various aspects of life at large. Therefore, this study aims to identify, organize, and analyze trends and clusters of Household Economic Welfare through systematic mapping of scientific literature. This study uses a bibliometric approach to map the research literature on Household Economic Welfare using metadata extracted from Scopus. This review paper involves 476 publications from Scopus base consisting of Articles (426), Conference Review (21), Conference Paper (13), Book Chapters (10), Books (3), Erratum (1), Letter (1), and Short Survey (1) from 2003 to 2024 using bibliometric analysis with VOSviewers. The main result of this study shows that the theme of household economic welfare has increased among academics in the last two decades in various countries and organizations, such as the United State, United Kingdom, China, Germany, South Africa, and India. The research also revealed several affiliated contributors to this theme, including the University of Oxford and the University of Cape Town. Meanwhile, scientific journals, such as World Development, Journal of Development Studies, and Sustainability (Switzerland) are the three most active publishers in publishing papers on this theme. In addition, the keyword co-occurrence analysis shows that household economic welfare is grouped into several clusters. This study also invites future scholars to elaborate on the variables and clusters proposed in this study and propose insights on the trajectory of household economic welfare.
