ABSTRACT

Digitization in university archives is vital to preserve and protect documents and records and make them available as study references for students and researchers. The primary purpose of this qualitative research is to identify the challenges related to digitization and the procedure that has been practiced at an academic archive. It is anticipated to serve as a guide and a point of reference for other researchers who wish to investigate the problems and difficulties in digitizing archival material. Archival institutions are crucial for preserving records of lasting significance. Especially in academic settings, they play an essential role in safeguarding and granting access to diverse materials that serve as references for students and researchers. With the advent of digital technology, digitization has become a vital process for preserving and providing access to various archival materials. University archives rely heavily on digitization to ensure that documents and records are protected and available for students and researchers to use for their studies. This qualitative research aims to identify the challenges that arise in the digitization process and the practices that have been implemented in an academic archive. This study serves as an informative guide and reference point for other researchers who wish to investigate the issues and obstacles in digitizing archival materials. The findings from this research emphasize the importance of addressing these challenges to ensure effective digitization practices and improve access to archival materials within university settings. With the right policies and practices in place, university archives can enhance the preservation and accessibility of records of enduring value for future generations.
