As the world shifts towards sustainable energy sources to combat climate change, Nigeria's heavy reliance on oil and gas poses challenges for its long-term economic and environmental health. To address this, we explore natural gas as a cleaner alternative, focusing on strategic management for sustainable development. By examining Nigeria's energy landscape and global trends, we highlight the benefits of transitioning to natural gas. Our research combines literature reviews and primary analysis, including challenges like infrastructure development and balancing domestic and export needs. We draw insights from countries like Qatar transitioning from fossil fuels. Understanding international cooperation and technology transfers is crucial for addressing social issues and prioritizing policy decisions influencing Nigerians. This approach contributes to recommendations for holistic planning strategies, ensuring lasting security in managing resources sustainably beyond national borders, benefiting communities worldwide.
