ABSTRACT

The "extended opportunity schools" in Thailand provide education from kindergarten through lower secondary school. There are 6,882 such schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission. In the Northeastern region alone, 3,212 extended opportunity schools span across 20 provinces (Office of Basic Education Policy and Planning, 2023). Managing these schools involves complex challenges and educational disparities more pronounced than in standard primary or secondary schools. These schools merge primary and secondary education, requiring administrators to employ learning leadership to manage diverse educational systems effectively. Administrators must navigate different curriculum standards and learning stages, from early childhood to secondary education, with each having distinct quality metrics and developmental needs. The primary issues in Northeastern extended opportunity schools include teachers handling subjects outside their qualifications and students facing economic and social challenges. Consequently, administrators must learn to manage resources and issues for the school's benefit. This study aims to develop learning leadership among school administrators, focusing on five components: being a lifelong learner, seeking learning innovations, team learning, fostering creativity, and creating a conducive learning environment.
